Ytterjärna Cultural Centre
Background
Starting at the beginning of the 1930s, a number of activities inspired by anthroposophy have grown up in Ytterjärna and its surroundings. These include a culture centre, hospital, schools, biodynamic farms, dairy, a market garden, homes for people with disabilities, and many others. Artist Arne Klingborg was one of the founders of Kulturcentrum Järna (then Rudolf Steinerseminariet), which was established in 1964. Activities were initially housed in Vita Huset, a building from the turn of the century built by the painter Bruno Liljefors. As activities increased, architect Erik Asmussen was commissioned to draw the buildings that can today be seen around Kulturhuset. These buildings house everything from a hotel, shops and restaurants to housing, offices, rehearsal and music rooms. Several influential exhibitions dealing with architecture and landscape art have been put on in Ytterjärna. Conferences, lectures and artistic performances are continually held.
